Playa Camaronal · Guanacaste · Costa Rica
La Reserva is a gated residential community located in Playa Camaronal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, thoughtfully positioned between rolling tropical hills and the wild Pacific coastline.
Created for those seeking more space, privacy, nature, and a deeper connection to Costa Rican living, La Reserva brings together a collection of residential neighborhoods and development opportunities within one distinctive coastal community.
The heart of La Reserva, the gated Montaña sector features 51 residential homesites surrounded by the natural landscape of the hills above Playa Camaronal. Generous lot sizes provide homeowners with room to create private tropical residences while enjoying the peace and openness that define this part of Guanacaste.
Sixteen additional residential lots are positioned along the main access corridor, offering convenient access while remaining connected to the greater La Reserva community.
Named in honor of the sea turtles that make Playa Camaronal so extraordinary, the Tortuga sector includes 12 residential lots situated closest to the coastal side of the development. The neighborhood reflects one of the defining elements of life at La Reserva: the remarkable relationship between land, ocean, and wildlife.
Playa Sur represents a separate 25 lot development component within the greater La Reserva master plan, creating an opportunity for the community to continue evolving while maintaining its connection to the surrounding landscape.
A designated commercial parcel provides an opportunity for future services or amenities that can complement residential life at La Reserva and the growing Camaronal area. This location offers potential for a variety of commercial businesses designed to support the surrounding community and area.
What truly distinguishes La Reserva is its location.
Just beyond the community lies Playa Camaronal and the protected Camaronal National Wildlife Refuge, an extraordinary stretch of Costa Rica's Pacific coastline where tropical forest meets a dramatic, dark-sand beach.
The refuge was established to protect this important coastal ecosystem and the sea turtles that return to Playa Camaronal to nest. Four species of sea turtle have been documented nesting here: olive ridley, leatherback, hawksbill and black turtles.
The surrounding refuge is much more than a nesting beach. Its landscape includes primary and secondary forest, mangroves, estuary habitat, riparian forest associated with the Río Ora, and an extensive protected marine area. Monkeys, iguanas, armadillos, crabs and numerous species of tropical birds are also found in the area.
This extraordinary setting gives La Reserva a character that is increasingly difficult to find: a residential community surrounded by nature, yet within reach of the established beach towns and services of the southern Nicoya Peninsula.
Nearby Playa Carrillo offers a very different beach experience, known for its palm-lined shore and calmer water, while Sámara provides restaurants, shopping, schools, professional services, activities and the energy of an established Costa Rican beach town. Playa Carrillo and Playa Islita are also among the nearby destinations accessible from the Camaronal area.
La Reserva is not about separating residents from nature. It is about giving people the space to experience it.
Mornings begin with tropical birds and the sounds of the surrounding landscape. Days can be spent exploring the coast, surfing, walking the beach, visiting nearby communities or simply enjoying the privacy of home. Evenings bring Pacific sunsets, warm tropical air and the slower rhythm for which Costa Rica is known.
The vision for La Reserva is to create a community that respects the remarkable character of Camaronal while providing homeowners with the freedom to build, live and become part of this special corner of Guanacaste.
It is a place for full-time residents, families creating a home in Costa Rica, second-home owners and those simply searching for something increasingly rare; a little more space, a little more nature and a life that feels connected to its surroundings.
